Picnic at a heritage property with An Taisce the National Trust for Ireland
Imagine the gentle early autumn sunshine slanting through the trees, fresh air,
food, family and friends in a fabulous location joining people all over the country
in Ireland’s first ever National Picnic Day. Organised by An Taisce the National
Trust for Ireland, the National Picnic day to be held on 26th September aims to
celebrate all that is great about Irish heritage and landscape.
Families, friends and groups of all sort will be able to pack a picnic and visit
one of selection of heritage properties around the country, some of these are owned
by the National Trust and held in trust for the people of Ireland for example the
walled garden of oldest guildhall in Dublin will be open for the event. Other beautiful
properties taking part are privately owned and never usually open to the public
such as Rokeby Hall in Co Louth which is a gem of a Georgian gentlemans’ residence.
Birr Castle Demense in Offaly will open for the day also, or chose an activity based
site such as the Royal Canal in Mullingar
